VILLA GRAZIANI RELAIS

A Historical Gem among
the Venetian Villas

Villa Graziani is a historical gem that is part of the prestigious Venetian Villas circuit, a testimony to the region’s classical architecture. Nestled in the lush hills of Valpolicella, built on a small hill to the east of Valgatara, Villa Graziani narrates a story of elegance, art and nature.
The origins and Palladian architecture
Built in 1826 to a project by architect Giuseppe Barbieri, this residence was created as a place of retreat and peace for the Graziani family, eager to find a corner of serenity in the countryside. The villa, with its compact and majestic volume, towers over three floors, perfectly harmonised according to the principles of symmetry and formal language typical of Palladian architecture.

Architectural details

Every detail of the villa evokes a bygone era, when the Vicenza stone, a precious raw material quarried from the Berici hills, was skilfully worked to create a dialogue between man and the surrounding nature. The main façade reflects the tripartite structure of classical architecture, with windows alternating between round and triangular gables, framing the external landscape in a play of light and shadow. The entrance portal on the north side and the majestic staircase leading to the iron gate on the east side are gateways that welcome visitors and invite them to enter.

The historic park and garden

Outside, the park and the garden, created in the 19th century, extend like a natural picture painted with the hues of each season. The vegetable garden, once the villa’s kitchen garden and orchard, tells of a rural past that is still alive and vibrant, while the rustic outbuildings, coeval with the construction of the villa, add a touch of authentic simplicity to this enchanting setting.

Renovation and return to original splendour

The recent renovation has returned Villa Graziani to its former magnificence, respecting its original lines and restoring its original grandeur. The stone has regained its materiality, the hues have brightened up and the architectural details have been brought back to life with a care that combines respect for tradition with contemporary sensitivity. The ornamental mascaron, cornices and decorative corbels have been restored to evoke the harmony of a bygone era.
Interiors: tradition and modernity
Inside, the villa retains its noble soul, with the large slabs of Vicenza stone on the entrance floor and the large staircase leading to the upper floors. The wide internal staircase with its smooth, rounded steps and classically designed iron railing, surrounds a modern glass and steel lift, symbolising a fusion of history and innovation. Likewise, the fireplaces in the various rooms, redesigned with essential, modern lines, become a meeting point between past and present, warming the rooms with their majestic presence.

The impressive renovation work carried out has resulted in modern amenities for comfortable living in all the rooms of the villa, but has maintained the sumptuous and solemn appearance of this jewel.
